Reflections on 2016, Welcome 2017

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,

And days of auld lang syne?

And days of auld lang syne, my dear,
And days of auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?

Happy New Year! Typically, I'm not a fan of New Year's Eve as I don't like to be told by society when to drink and party, but I make an exception for the song above. Auld Lang Syne is a great piece of music and it figures prominently in one of my favourite movies: It's a Wonderful Life.

Before I get into a recap of the past 12 months, here is a look at my resolution for 2017.

Now for some career highlights from 2016:

- Wrote a 15,000-word novella about a professional golfer struggling with the mental side of the game. Read it for free here.

- Climbed the CN Tower steps for charity and beat my goal time.
- Was a sideline reporter at the CrossFit Games East Regional in Albany, New York.

- Had a number of sports anchoring shifts. Here is one from the summer.

- Worked as a sideline reporter for ESPN's coverage of the 2016 CrossFit Games in Carson, California.

- Filled in on Global Toronto's morning show for a couple of weeks. And there was lots of Blue Jays talk.

- I now have the opportunity to present the weather on Global Toronto five nights a week at 11 p.m. (Wednesday to Sunday)

Here's my Global schedule for January:

Wednesday through Friday - 5 p.m. newscast for Durham, 11 p.m. for Toronto, Montreal, Halifax and Fredericton.

Saturday and Sunday - 10 p.m. newscast for Winnipeg, Regina, and Saskatoon and 11 p.m. for Toronto, Montreal, Halifax and Fredericton.

Thanks for reading and watching over the past year and all the best for 2017!
