July Update - Sports

Summertime and the living's easy.

I had a full weekend of on-air sports anchoring last month and it was a busy couple of days with Blue Jays baseball, the PGA's Memorial tournament, and the French Open. Below is my sports highlight package that ran on Global News Toronto that Sunday.

On a personal sports note, last month I also had my first-ever tennis lesson. I realized that if I want my game to go to the next level, I have to get a better serve. I need my service game to be more consistent and effective.

I kind of feel like Roy Halladay when he was sent down to A ball at the beginning of his career. I had my serving motion completely broken down and now I have to build it back up. Unfortunately, that means losing to opponents I typically beat.

But, much like Halladay, I have to trust the process and the temporary pain I'm feeling now will all be worth it for a stronger and more reliable serve. I just hope the changes take hold sooner rather than later. And an amateur tennis career analogous to Roy's professional baseball career would be fantastic (and most likely wishful thinking).

At the end of July, I will once again be working as a sideline reporter for CrossFit. I will be heading to Carson, California to report on the Masters, Teenagers and Team competitions at the CrossFit Games for an entire week.

In the interim, Here's my on-air schedule at Global for July (all times local).

Friday - 10 p.m. newscast for Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, 11 p.m. for Toronto, and  Montreal
